Teenager Shot and Killed in Drive-By Shooting

SHERIFF’S HOMICIDE DETECTIVES ARE EN ROUTE TO 61ST STREET AND NAOMI AVENUE, LOS ANGELES, TO INVESTIGATE THE CIRCUMSTANCES SURROUNDING THE SHOOTING DEATH OF A MALE HISPANIC TEENAGER.

DEPUTIES FROM THE CENTURY SHERIFF’S STATION,  RESPONDED TO THE 1200 BLOCK OF 61ST STREET, LOS ANGELES, REGARDING AN ASSAULT WITH A DEADLY WEAPON CALL.  WHEN DEPUTIES ARRIVED, THEY SAW A MALE HISPANIC TEENAGER SUFFERING FROM GUNSHOT WOUNDS TO HIS BODY.

PARAMEDICS WERE CALLED AND THE TEEN WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD AT THE SCENE.

HOMICIDE DETECTIVES HAVE LEARNED THAT AN APPARENT VERBAL ALTERCATION OCCURRED BETWEEN THE TEENAGE BOY AND TWO MALE SUSPECTS.

THE SUSPECTS, ONLY DESCRIBED AS MALE BLACKS, WERE DRIVING A DARK COLORED SPORTS UTILITY VEHICLE (S.U.V.), WHEN THEY APPROACHED THE TEEN AND AN ARGUMENT OCCURRED.  AT SOME POINT DURING THE ARGUMENT, ONE OF THE SUSPECTS IN THE S.U.V , PRODUCED A HANDGUN AND BEGAN FIRING AT THE TEEN.  THE SUSPECTS THEN FLED THE SCENE IN THE S.U.V, WESTBOUND ON EAST 61ST STREET AND OUT OF VIEW. 

THE VICTIMS NAME IS BEING WITHHELD PENDING NOTIFICATION OF NEXT OF KIN.
