Sheriff’s Deputies to Reach Out and Reward Students

WHO: L.A.S.D. MOTORSPORTS SHERIFF’S DEPUTIES.

WHAT: THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPUTIES MOTORSPORTS TEAM, IN COOPERATION WITH PROFESSIONAL EDUCATORS, SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS, AND LOYAL SPONSORS, HAVE DEVELOPED AN INNOVATIVE PROGRAM TO ENHANCE CHILDREN’S LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES THROUGH RECOGNITION AND REWARD. THE PROGRAM IS CALLED, “REWARDING ACHIEVEMENT IN CLASSROOM EDUCATION” (R.A.C.E.).

SHERIFF’S DEPUTIES WILL DONATE THEIR OFF-DUTY TIME TO ADMINISTER THE R.A.C.E. PROGRAM. THESE DEPUTIES WILL TEACH THE IMPORTANCE OF READING AND CITIZENSHIP FROM A CURRICULUM DEVELOPED BY EDUCATORS. USING THEIR DIRT AND ROAD RACING MOTORCYCLES TO GAIN THE INTEREST OF THE YOUNG PEOPLE, THE DEPUTIES WILL FOSTER THIS INFORMAL INTERACTION, CEMENTING POSITIVE RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN LAW ENFORCEMENT AND THE YOUTH OF OUR COMMUNITY.
