Woman Killed And Local Man Critically Injured During Gang Violence

SHERIFF’S HOMICIDE DETECTIVES ARE CONTINUING THEIR INVESTIGATION INTO THE CIRCUMSTANCES SURROUNDING THE DEATH OF A WOMAN AND THE WOUNDING OF A MAN WHICH TOOK PLACE ON THE 5200 BLOCK OF SAN GABRIEL PLACE IN PICO RIVERA ON MARCH 13, 2007.

DETECTIVES HAVE LEARNED THAT AT APPROXIMATELY 7:30 P.M. A GANG RELATED SHOOTING OCCURRED BETWEEN TWO VEHICLES TRAVELING NORTHBOUND ON SAN GABRIEL PLACE FROM MINES AVENUE IN THE CITY OF PICO RIVERA.  DURING THE SHOOTING, THE DRIVER OF A BLACK SPORTS UTILITY VEHICLE SUSTAINED A GUNSHOT WOUND TO THE UPPER TORSO WHICH CAUSED HIM TO LOOSE CONTROL OF HIS VEHICLE AND COLLIDE WITH AN UNINVOLVED MOTORIST IN A  MAROON COLORED MINI-VAN.

THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER OF THE MINI-VAN  WERE TRANSPORTED TO A LOCAL HOSPITAL.  AS  A RESULT OF THE COLLISION, THE DRIVER, A FEMALE WHITE ADULT, AGE 67, WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD AT THE HOSPITAL.  THE PASSENGER, A FEMALE WHITE ADULT, AGE 47, SUSTAINED MINOR TO MODERATE INJURIES AND REMAINS AT THE HOSPITAL.

THE SUSPECT/VICTIM OF THE BLACK SPORTS UTILITY VEHICLE WAS ALSO TRANSPORTED TO A LOCAL HOSPITAL WHERE HE IS LISTED AS DEATH IMMINENT.  THE SUSPECT/VICTIM IS DESCRIBED AS A MALE HISPANIC, AGE 24 AND A RESIDENT OF PICO RIVERA.

THE SECOND VEHICLE INVOLVED IN THE SHOOTING DROVE NORTHBOUND ON SAN GABRIEL PLACE, STRUCK ANOTHER VEHICLE STOPPED AT  A STOP SIGN AND THEN CONTINUED EAST ONTO VERNER STREET AND OUT OF VIEW.  THIS VEHICLE IS DESCRIBED AS A DARK COLORED TOYOTA WITH FOUR MALE HISPANIC SUSPECTS.

THERE ARE NO FURTHER DETAILS AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME.
